Olympic Judo, throws, takedowns and ground control for all ages.
Judo, meaning "gentle way", is a Japanese martial art and Olympic sport developed by Jigoro Kano in 1882. It focuses on throwing and takedown techniques (nage-waza) combined with ground control, pins, joint locks and chokes (ne-waza). Unlike striking arts, Judo teaches practitioners to use their opponent's momentum and weight against them.
DoBu's Judo programme is affiliated with the British Judo Association and follows its grading syllabus. Students progress from white belt through to black belt, with regular grading days held at the club. Judo is one of the most widely recognised competitive martial arts in the world, DoBu has produced several regional-level competitors.
Judo is excellent for developing explosive power, balance, timing and mental resilience. It is suitable for all ages, DoBu runs separate sessions for children (Saturdays) and adults.
