What a small business site has to do

Most people who land on a small business website want three answers quickly: do you do the thing I need, can I trust you, and how do I get in touch. A good site answers all three on a phone screen without making anyone scroll through a slideshow first.

So we plan the pages around the questions your customers ask before they buy, not around a template. A page for each main service, proof that you are real (photos of your work, your qualifications, where you work), and a contact route that suits how you like to be reached.

What every build includes

  • Design from scratch. You approve the page designs before any code is written.
  • An editor for the parts you change. News, prices, opening times and photos, without calling us.
  • SEO basics done properly. Titles, descriptions, a sitemap, structured data and Google Search Console set up at launch.
  • Speed on a phone. We build in Next.js, so pages are prepared in advance and there is no pile of plugins slowing them down.
  • The legal pages. Privacy, terms and cookie pages, plus a 404 page and an SSL certificate.
  • Ownership. Your domain and accounts are in your name from day one, and the site and its code are yours once the final invoice is paid.

Which package fits

If people mostly find you by word of mouth and check your site before they call, "A clear presence" is usually enough: from £4,500, live in 4 to 6 weeks.

If the site has to win work from search, with a page for each service or area, a blog and forms into your CRM, "A site that sells" starts at £8,500. The cost guide explains the difference in full, and the calculator gives you a range in two minutes.

If your budget is well under our starting price, a website builder will serve you better for now. We wrote about that in Wix or a custom-built website.

Questions people ask us

How long does a small business website take?

A straightforward site usually goes live 4 to 6 weeks after you approve the design. Waiting for text and photos is the most common cause of delay, so we help with both.

Do I have to write the words myself?

No. You can supply them, or we can write them for an extra fee. Either way we edit for clarity and for the searches your customers make.

Will it work on phones?

Yes. Most small business visitors arrive on a phone, so we design for the small screen first and test on real devices before launch.
